Zoo al Maglio, Fondazione Susy Fehr – ZooCARE, Ticino’s zoo since 1974

We take care of animals
And the world they live in
Since 1974, we have been managing the Ticino Zoo with a clear mission: conservation, animal welfare, research, and education.

The zoo

The Foundation manages the zoo with a specific mission: to conserve biodiversity, care for the animals, and conduct research and educational activities. It is a nonprofit organization.
A World to Explore
Lions, gibbons, lemurs, snow leopards, wallabies: animals from all over the world, in habitats designed just for them. And the Animal Experience, where you can get within one meter of them.
Animal Experience
Something You’ll Never Forget
Book an Animal Experience for direct interaction with the animals. Available year-round, led by the zoo keepers.
Animal Experience: Lions
The keeper interacts with the lions: he feeds them and spends time with them. You watch closely, listen to his explanations, and come to understand who they really are.
Book →Snow Leopard
The snow leopard is one of the rarest animals in the world. The keeper works with it while you stand just a few meters away.
Book →Raccoons
The keeper enters the raccoon enclosure, feeds them by hand, and tells you all about these adorable little forest thieves.
Book →Pony Ride
For the little ones. Simple, true, unforgettable.

C·A·R·E: four words, one mission
We participate in EEP programs to protect endangered species. Today, these include ring-tailed lemurs, white-handed gibbons, and snow leopards; other species will follow. These are animals at risk of extinction that receive care and scientific attention here.
Each animal has an individualized welfare plan. Their environments are designed to accommodate their natural behaviors, and they receive daily enrichment and ongoing veterinary care.
We collaborate with universities and scientific institutions to generate real-world data on animal behavior and the management of the species we house.
ZOO CAMP Workshops, activities for schools, programs for seniors. Because understanding animals is the first step toward wanting to protect them.

Behind every animal, there is someone who takes care of it
You can do it, too
Zoo al Maglio does not receive guaranteed public funding. Every lion we feed, every veterinary visit, and every new habitat we build is made possible by those who choose to support us. Your contribution is not just a symbolic gesture. It becomes food, care, space, research, and a future. All donations are tax-deductible.
