Learning from Real Animals
Taking a class to the zoo isn’t just a field trip.
Children explore, discover, get up close to the animals, and ask questions they would never ask at school. And they find the answers right here, in front of the real animals. That’s why schools in Ticino come back every year.
You can come on your own and explore freely, or add one of the guided activities led by our zoo educators to your visit, with educational materials available. And if you’d prefer to start in the classroom, we’ll come to you.

A Trip to the Zoo on Our Own
An easy outing to organize on your own: a self-guided walk along the trails, a picnic area for a snack, and a tent that serves as a gathering spot in case of rain.

The lesson begins in the classroom: our educators come to your class.

Before the zoo, in the classroom
With “The Zoo at School,” you have the opportunity to participate in lessons right in your own classroom. Our experts come to your classrooms to teach about the animal world through topics related to animal conservation.
CHF 4.- per child for a single classroom lesson · CHF 15.- per child for a classroom lesson plus admission and activities at the zoo.

Treasure Hunt
An animal-themed scavenger hunt: clues filled with challenges and activities lead to a final treasure, while children learn lots of fun facts in an engaging way. Perfect for preschool classes.

Nature Photographer
With our ZOO-Cams, kids learn about each animal’s behavior and put their skills to the test in a timed challenge: photographing the animals in action to win a prize.

The Lab
Esplolab
About an hour and a half spent with the animals, including admission and rental of the facility.
Practical and fun, the Esplolab workshops offer a unique experience interacting with animals. CHF 12.50 per participant up to age 15 · CHF 16.50 for ages 16 and up.
The World of Reptiles
Let’s take a close look at the land tortoises and feed them. You’ll get to meet Rugo, the giant tortoise, and our beautiful corn snakes.
My Leopard Friend
Let’s get to know the snow leopards, create enrichment activities for them, and observe how they behave.
From Monkey to Man
Let’s learn about the monkey species at the zoo: gibbons and capuchin monkeys. Let’s feed them using these ingenious feeders.
The Colors of Parrots
Let’s meet the parrots and build colorful, delicious enrichment items for them.
Young Guardian
Become an animal keeper for a day and find out what it really means to care for animals, prepare their food, clean their enclosures, and create enrichment activities for them.
Young Coach
Find out what it means to be an animal trainer: experience the excitement of training sessions, learn how to build a special bond, and apply these skills with your own four-legged friends.
