The species
Who they are
It is one of the hardest animals to spot in the wild: it lives in the mountains of Central Asia at extremely high altitudes, blends in among the rocks, and is most active at dawn and dusk. Its tail, which is almost as long as its body, helps it maintain balance on slopes and serves as a blanket when it sleeps.
Zoo al Maglio participates in the European Endangered Species Program (EEP) for this species: we contribute to the coordinated management of the European population by following the program coordinator’s guidelines.
For those who want to get even closer, there’s the Snow Leopard Animal Experience, reserved for people 18 and older.
Come and meet them
