Who they are
Zoo al Maglio is home to several species of parrots: macaws, blue-fronted, yellow-fronted, and red-fronted Amazon parrots, cockatoos, and African grey parrots. They are among the longest-living animals at the zoo—many live past fifty years—and among the most intelligent: they solve problems, learn from their peers, and recognize people.
That is precisely why they receive new items every day, and some children’s workshops are dedicated to making new ones for them.
The sponsorship fee varies by species: from CHF 250 for small parrots to CHF 400 for macaws.
