The species
Who they are
Few people recognize them before seeing them. The coati has an elongated, flexible snout, which it uses to root around in the ground, and a tail that is always held high: within the group, this serves as a signal to prevent them from getting lost in the dense vegetation.
They are incredibly curious and approach visitors with a surprising ease. People who have never encountered them before tend to linger much longer than expected.
